Durmitor
Durmitor National Park is a rugged and beautiful wilderness area located in northern Montenegro, near the town of Žabljak. The park is famous for its towering mountain peaks, deep river canyons, glacial lakes, and dense forests. It is home to the highest peak in Montenegro, Bobotov Kuk, which rises to an elevation of 2,523 metres. Durmitor National Park is a paradise for hikers, with numerous trails that lead through stunning alpine scenery, past waterfalls and over ridges with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Biogradska Gora
Biogradska Gora National Park is located in central Montenegro and is one of the country’s most beautiful natural areas. The park is home to Biogradska Lake, one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe, and a diverse array of flora and fauna. The park’s centrepiece, Biogradska Lake, is a glacial lake surrounded by forests and mountains, making it a popular spot for hiking, camping, and fishing. Visitors to the park can also explore the surrounding forests on one of the many hiking trails, or take a guided tour to learn more about the park’s unique ecology and history.
Skadar Lake
Skadar Lake National Park is located in the southern part of Montenegro and has the largest lake in the Balkans. The park is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including over 270 bird species, making it an important area for bird-watching. The lake is surrounded by picturesque mountains and traditional villages, and visitors can take boat tours to explore its hidden bays and coves. The park also has several cultural and historical sites, including old monasteries and fortresses that tell the story of the area’s rich history.
Lovcen
Lovćen National Park is a national park located in southwestern Montenegro, near the city of Cetinje. It is known for its natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and historical significance. The park is named after the mountain of Lovćen, which is the second-highest mountain in the country and has a peak of 1,749 metres. One of the most famous attractions in the park is the Mausoleum of Njegoš, which is located at the summit of Mount Lovćen and offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. The mausoleum is dedicated to Petar II Petrović-Njegoš, a renowned Montenegrin poet and philosopher.
Prokletije
Prokletije National Park is a national park located in southeastern Montenegro. It is named after the Prokletije mountain range, which is also known as the “Balkan Alps” and is one of the most rugged and remote mountain ranges in Europe. Prokletije National Park is a relatively new park, having been established in 2009, but it has already become a popular destination for hikers, mountaineers, and nature lovers from around the world. It is a place of stunning natural beauty and cultural significance, and a must-visit destination for anyone travelling to Montenegro.
